Property Task Force meeting September 8  7:00pm

It has been several weeks, actually, several months since we last sat down as the New Property Task Force.  One of the key items that was discussed at the last get-together was developing a Business Plan for presentation to the congregation.  This plan was to provided some general concepts and along with the many aspects of selling off two parcels.   I would like to ask all who are available to meet on Tuesday September 8th  (7:00 pm) to renew our talks and get our ideas flowing again.

Taking Care of St. Paul's

We have a beautiful church with many beautiful features that literally surround us each time we come together for worship and fellowship.  A wonderful and welcoming stone building, glowing stained glass windows, rich woods above our heads, below our feet and all around us, rooms where children attend Sunday School, a chapel and places where many other activities occur, a parsonage, a cemetery, signs, fences, lighting, and so much more.

Taking care of these assets is an important task.  And it is important to try to make sure we are doing things that need to be done.  That is where you come in, because it is important not to overlook anything that should have been noticed.

The Church Council has established a task force, led by Council Vice President Pete Snyder, to examine the physical condition, maintenance and capital improvement needs at St. Paul’s, and develop a strategic plan for addressing those needs.  This effort is focused on our existing facilities rather than projects that may occur as part of the new land acquisition.

Some work has already been identified and begun, such as the water and sewer effort, kitchen and fellowship hall improvements, and the organ repairs.  Other projects, such as repairing the stained glass windows, are well known and awaiting action.  But there may also be things that someone noticed that needed attention, or something that ought to be done but hasn’t, and that’s what you can tell us about.

Are there repairs that are needed?  Are there things that could improve our church facilities?  Are there things that could lead to cost savings or better usage of what we have?  Are there people or companies you know that have provided outstanding service and value in some of the areas of work that we will be doing at St. Paul’s?  Let us hear from you. Your ideas are important and your guidance can help make our work a success.

You can write any ideas and suggestions on the back of this page and leave it at the church office.  Or you can send an email to Randy Arndt, a member of this task force, who will bring this information into the work plan.  His address is:  arndtran@gmail.com

Property Updates

4/19/09
Well we are nearing the end, the system is almost complete. We need only connect the first floor ducts and hook up the coils and the money saving will begin. Thanks for all of your help we have raised just over 30% of the monies needed for completion. So if you would please consider giving to the Parsonage repair fund. Still need $14,000.00.  - George

The installation is going well and should be done by next week. When finished it will take care of both heating and air conditioning. The system uses Carrier Sear 16 seer heat pump with automatic changeover from hear pump to hot water coil heater. ( This does away with the heat pump feeling of cold air blowing) Mark Ashby the owner of ASC Heating and Air Conditioning has been kind enough to only take payment from what we are receiving marked Parsonage Heating Fund. So please be generous in your giving to pay him off quickly. For those who have asked we had three bids the first one was $33,000 the second was $30,000 and Mr. Ashby's generous bid of $20,320. ( He felt it was a Church and in these hard times would us a cut rate price.)
Thanks for your help Peace George

Please don't leave our Pastor out in the cold.  Your help is needed as you probably already know the heating system in the Parsonage is failing. In order to stop it before it gets worse we are installing a Carrier 16 Sear system two zones. We anticipate that it will pay for itself in five to seven years so if you would please consider giving to the Parsonage heating fund. Please mark your check Parsonage. Peace George

Take a peek at the basement Men/s Room (Ladies welcome until the door goes back up in two weeks) The tile is now complete and the painting and wood trim has begun. We hope to be done by the end of the year. Next it will be the basement Ladies room.

PLEASE remember the Parsonage heating fund we would like to start that in January with a little luck and $18,000 to make it happen.  Thanks for all of the support,

Peace George

Lots to report about the Parsonage, we have fixed the garage and it is now safe once again, we also installed new gutters and all new wrapping of the wood, the new windows will be in soon. In the basement we waterproofed all of the walls removing all of the old wooden shelving and painted the floor looks wonderful. The new energy efficient windows for the basement will be in next month.

In the Church we have begun to renovate the men’s room once the new tile is installed we will install our new water saving toilets.

Peace George
