God has most certainly
blessed St. Paul's with an abundance of dedicated and talented Musicians, as well as Leaders of various Musical Ensembles.
Elise Hoermann serves as our Music Staff. As Organist, Chancel Choir Director and overall Director of Music, she is
at the helm, and “steady she goes”!
In addition, there are several volunteers providing “Sound Leadership”
at
St. Paul’s. Dale Snyder steadfastly guides those adorable little cherubs in the Youth Choir, the Bell
Choir has the dedicated leadership of Betty Kerwin, and Tanya Hoegh-Allan directs the Wind Ensemble. These ensembles
at St. Paul’s are going strong, and to God Be the Glory.
The Lutheran Bells, St. Paul's Hand Bell Choir, is fortunate to have
the long-time, dedication and leadership of Betty Kerwin. A lifelong member of St. Paul's, Betty has devoted 15+
years as director of the bell choir. She is also a talented bell ringer in her own right. A lot of time, effort
and organization goes into finding music, selecting pieces and rehearsing each week. The ringers most often help provide
Prelude Music and Offertory Music, but if a choir piece has a Hand Bell part - count on them. We are genuinely
grateful for their musical contributions to the services at St. Paul’s.
Instrumentalists from the Wind Ensemble often will play solos.
Other times they embellish hymns by covering descants or playing obligato parts. Small ensembles often provide additional
accompaniment for a choir piece, and our full ensemble pretty regularly plays along with hymns.
Occasionally, a piece might call for some "teaming up".
Whether it be a Youth Choir/Chancel Choir collaboration, or Hand Bells/Wind Instruments, we like to think we "play well
with others". Ultimately, the goal is to provide beautiful and inspirational music so that God gets the GLORY HE
DESERVES.
