CELEBRATIONS 2010
2010 is not only the start of a new decade, but it is the 140th anniversary of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Additionally, our pastors are both celebrating milestone anniversaries of their ordinations: 35th for Pastor Rod and 20th for Pastor Cathy. Together with the church council and other church ministries, the evangelism ministry has begun planning several exciting celebratory events. We are hoping all members of St. Paul’s will be able to joyfully participate in many or all of these celebrations throughout the year.  However, the planning and execution of these functions cannot be successfully accomplished without a lot of help and we are praying that many members of our congregation will join us. No long-term commitment is required.  Just pick an activity that appeals to you, join the group involved with that function and help whenever and wherever you can.  It’s just that simple and sure to be a lot of fun, as well as an amazing opportunity to be a part of the planning for the celebration of these memorable milestones in our church’s history.  ery soon there will be sign-up sheets in the narthex for a variety of functions currently being planned, as well as other opportunities to get involved in on-going activities at St. Paul’s.  Check these out and sign up for the one that appeals to you!  Additionally, if you have suggestions regarding other ways to celebrate and honor our church’s history, please contact Ron or Marcia Mickley at mickleys@verizon.net.

BAKELESS BAKE SALE RETURNS—HELP FOR TUITION FOR GHANA
The Bakeless Bake Sale is making a comeback this January.  We did one in January 2008 and it was very successful and we hope to be just as successful this year.
The thought behind the bakeless bake sale is to put in the box what you would spend for supplies for baking anything or what you would have paid for one of Debbie’s pineapple cakes. Place your donation in the white covered shoebox that can be found on the credenza outside of the church office.

SUNDAY SCHOOL DURING LENT
The Sunday school classes will be doing a 5 week Lenten curriculum called “Now We Can Celebrate Passover”.  Grades Pre-k thru Middle School will be participating in this.  The will learn about parts of the meal, the lamb, bitter herbs, parsley & salt water, unleavened bread and wine (or grape juice) and the hardboiled egg.  Children will learn the meaning of these foods within the Passover celebration and they will come away with the Christian message that “Jesus is the true Passover Lamb who takes away the sins of the world.”

Rainforest Dinner Coming—Saturday, June 5th,  We are making preparations for the Rainforest Dinner.  We are in need of items to make up Raffle Baskets.  There will be a sign up sheet in the Narthex.  If a family could donate the items for a basket they can do so on the sign-up sheet.  We will be providing the baskets.
